Last night, Game 5 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians was postponed due to rain.
The deciding game of the series will be played this afternoon and will get underway at 4:07 p.m. Eastern Time.
But the rainout last night has led to a rare occurrence.
Today is the scheduled start day for the NLCS between the San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies, which marks the first time in MLB postseason history that two rounds will overlap.
Game 1 of the NLCS is scheduled for an 8:03 p.m. Eastern Time start.
The ALCS is scheduled to start tomorrow, with the winner of Game 5 advancing to play the Houston Astros.
tomorrow will be the 1st day in MLB postseason history where 2 rounds overlap, each having a game (ALDS/NLCS)

Postseason History Made Thanks To Rain
This is obviously incredibly rare and is a first for Major League Baseball.
But it was all made possible thanks to last night’s postponement.
The NLCS and ALCS are still scheduled to start today and tomorrow, respectively.
But since the ALDS between New York and Cleveland is still unfinished, today will mark the first time in postseason history that two playoff rounds will overlap with one another on the same day.
It’s also the first time since 2012 that the next round of the postseason will begin the day after the previous round ends.
That year, the Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS in five games.
The day after Game 5, the Yankees opened up the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers.
Obviously, the lockout and the new postseason format have caused things to be a little truncated this year.
But at the very least, we get a chance to witness some history, with the ALDS coming to an end today and the NLCS starting just mere hours later.
