We associate spring training with the bright sun of February and March, the beautiful green color of the field, and the smell of wet grass.
Since we are talking about MLB, we also associate it with the return of baseball.
That same sun we all love and admire can have its impact on players.
If players don’t wear the right equipment, they will have…visible effects from the sun on their bodies.
If you don’t believe us, just ask Chicago White Sox third baseman Jake Burger.
Twitter users shared a new White Sox hat with a mesh back, and Burger was not so thrilled.
When asked why he didn’t like them, he posted a picture for all of us to see.
“Bald players are not happy about the mesh backs,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

We have so many things to say.
First, that’s a perfect bald head right there.
And second…well, it turns out we didn’t really have too much to say.
We sure hope he put some sunscreen on his head.
Burger is entering a crucial spring training: a solid, convincing performance will almost guarantee him some early-season at-bats with the big league club.
He had a solid stint with the White Sox last year, in which he slashed .250/.302/.458 with eight home runs in 183 plate appearances.
If he can improve his walk rate, he could be a really solid bat for Chicago as they try to show they are not a mediocre team.
They finished the 2022 campaign with a middling 81-81 record, and all eyes will be on them after their unproductive offseason.
