We have seen enough MLB baseball in 2022 to determine the most likely teams to win the World Series.
It’s not the same to be considered a potential playoff contender (or hopeful, depending on the case) as it is to be a legitimate candidate to win the Fall Classic.
Only the truly great teams deserve serious consideration as candidates to lift the trophy in late October or early November.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Yankees remain the most likely team to win it all in July.
“The top teams now favored to win the World Series as we move into July, per @betonline_ag: #Yankees: 4/1 #Dodgers: 9/2 #Astros: 7/1 #Mets: 7/1 #Blue Jays: 12/1 Atlanta: 14/1 #Padres: 14/1 No other team has less than 20/1 odds,” Nightengale tweeted.

It’s not really a surprise to see the Yanks with the best odds: they lead MLB with a 56-21 record and went 22-6 in July, again one of the best marks in the league.
The Houston Astros Are Soaring In The Rankings, Deservedly So
Oddsmakers, however, are starting to give more credit and recognition to the Houston Astros.
They placed them third with 7/1 odds, just behind the Los Angeles Dodgers at 9/2.
The Astros just finished a busy week against the Yankees and the New York Mets, and went 7-2 in their nine games against both New York teams.
They showed the world they belong in the conversation for elite squads.
The Toronto Blue Jays, the Atlanta Braves (current World Series champions), and the San Diego Padres complete the top six, per Nightengale.
The winner of the 2022 World Series should be inside that group, although the Boston Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the San Francisco Giants shouldn’t be ruled out.
