Teams are fighting hard for a place in the postseason in MLB, but the battle for individual awards is also fierce.
St. Louis Cardinals slugger Paul Goldschmidt should be considered the favorite to win his first NL MVP, but the picture is much murkier when it comes to the AL MVP.
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is marching towards breaking Roger Maris‘ American League record of 61 dingers while also fighting for the AL hitting Triple Crown.
On the other hand, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels is dominating as a hitter and has been one of the best pitchers in the young circuit, too.
Who should win the prestigious award?
Ohtani fans fiercely defend that he is doing things no one else has done in the game, and they are right.
Judge’s defenders say that he is having the kind of spectacular, dominant and superior offensive season to offset Ohtani’s two-way prowess, and they might also be right.
Who is right?
Who is wrong?
Nobody has the absolute, definitive truth.
Such A Hot MVP Debate Is Great For Baseball
The Washington Post’s Chelsea Janes said that the fact there is such a strong debate is good for baseball.
“My much-pondered take on the Ohtani-Judge MVP question is that there is a direct correlation between the health of the sport and the number of angsty debates over its awards making the answer to Judge or Ohtani a hard ‘yes,’” she tweeted.

People are definitely engaged in this debate, and there are two true superstars deserving the MVP.
That, of course, is good for MLB because it is trending in discussions, both among friends or family (not to mention at the stadium) and on social media.
As long as fans are talking about who is more deserving of the award, the league probably won’t complain.
