MLB Insider Shares New Michael Conforto Update

Michael Conforto is the one big free agent who was left out on the market after all the other major free agents signed.

The MLB lockout had something to do with that for sure, but even most free agents who were left unsigned ended up finding new homes after it was over.

Conforto is the only one who didn’t.

In fact, an elbow injury he suffered during the lockout hurt his stock quite a bit, as he now recovers from surgery.

But Jon Heyman of MLB Network retweeted a tweet from the New York Post, saying that it’s possible Conforto could sign with a team after the draft if he has recovered.

Conforto On The Move Soon?

This is something that could work for several teams.

There will be holes to fill for each contending team at the trade deadline.

Perhaps a team could use a big bat.

Conforto would be a perfect guy to fill that hole.

And you don’t have to give up anybody to bring him in.

It would simply be a free agent signing and at this point in the year, it would probably only take a one-year offer.

He’ll likely bet on himself and see if he can get a larger deal next offseason.

Again, with him being a free agent and no more draft pick compensation, at least for the time being, all it’s going to take for a team to get him is money, no prospects or anything like that.

It’s too early in the year to tell who might be in play for his services, but perhaps a team that is struggling offensively could see him as the missing piece.
