Josh Bell was one of many players that were on the move this year at the trade deadline.
The Cleveland Guardians shipped the slugging first baseman to the Miami Marlins.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic was one of the first to report the news of the trade.
However, Rosenthal made a crucial mistake when sending out the tweet that revealed the news of the trade.
Bell was with the San Diego Padres at the end of last season, and Rosenthal accidentally tweeted that the Marlins had picked him up from the Padres.
On the MLB podcast “Fair Territory,” Rosenthal shared this hilarious story about how he botched the tweet.
Fair Territory!
How I botched the Josh Bell tweet:

Rosenthal said that there were a lot of things happening at once, as the official trade deadline was very close.
He revealed that he didn’t even realize he had botched the tweet, that is, until Jayson Stark texted him and told him about it.
Rosenthal then had to scramble in order to fix the tweet.
He then discussed how such a thing happened in the first place, and he talked about how he was simply rushing to get the news out.
To be fair, as Rosenthal noted, the Marlins made deals with the Padres and Guardians in roughly the same time frame, which caused Rosenthal to make a slight mistake.
Fortunately, Rosenthal is able to laugh at himself for making this mistake.
He of course can be forgiven, as he is one baseball’s top writers and reporters with a strong track record.
