After 10 years away from St. Louis, “El Hombre”, as Cards fans affectionately referred to him during his days with the team, is back for one final ride.
What makes this even sweeter is the fact that this will be the final season for Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina, and the three of them have a chance to ride off into the sunset together as teammates once again.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post had a little fact to share this morning that will make baseball fans feel a little old.
With Pujols in agreement to return to the #STLCards a fun fact: the only active player who was drafted in the ‘90s (1999) is Pujols. The only 2 still active from the 2000 draft are Molina/Wainwright. They are all about to be teammates again.

Feel Old Yet?
This is an insane fact.
Pujols, unsurprisingly is the last active player from the 1999 draft, when the Cardinals took him in the 13th round.
Wainwright and Molina were both drafted in 2000.
Not only that, but Wainwright and Molina are the last two active players from that draft as well.
Now, after winning two World Series titles together and Pujols spending some time on the West Coast, the three are back together again as teammates for one final season.
It almost seems like yesterday when Pujols was on the field at Busch Stadium celebrating the Cards’ 2011 title, the last time he wore the Birds on the Bat.
But here we are 11 years later.
Pujols is a Cardinal once again and is back where it all began.
But to think that there are only two players left from the draft that took place a year after he himself was selected is crazy.
This season is going to be a treat for Cardinals fans.
They’ll have one final opportunity to see Pujols, Molina, and Wainwright wearing the same uniform.
