The Chicago White Sox have finally found their next manager.
After Tony La Russa stepped away due to lingering health issues, bench coach Miguel Cairo took the reins for the remainder of the season.
La Russa later announced that he would not be returning to the role.
But after a long search, the White Sox have found a new manager.
This morning, it was announced by Buster Olney of ESPN that the team had hired Kansas City Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol to be their next manager.
It had been reported by Jon Morosi of MLB Network that the White Sox were down to two finalists, those being Grifol and New York Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza.
But the White Sox have chosen Grifol to lead the team going forward.
Pedro Grifol, longtime coach with the Royals, is expected to be the next White Sox manager, an announcement that could come later this week.

White Sox Hire Grifol To Manage
Grifol had been the bench coach for the Royals under the recently dismissed Mike Matheny.
With La Russa now gone, the White Sox found themselves in the market for a new manager.
Now, they have their man.
Grifol has spent the last 10 years in the Royals organization.
He had spent 12 years in the Seattle Mariners organization as a minor league manager with the team’s Double-A affiliate.
He also played college baseball at Florida State and spent nine years in the minor leagues, even reaching Triple-A.
The White Sox went 81-81 this season under La Russa and Cairo, following 93 wins and an AL Central division title in 2021.
