Elvis Andrus is one of several key free agents who has yet to sign.
The veteran shortstop spent 2022 with the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox.
The 34-year-old hit .249 with 17 home runs, a .303 on-base percentage, a .404 slugging percentage, and an OPS of .707.
Yet Andrus is still unsigned.
However, a spot may open up for the veteran shortstop.
The Boston Red Sox are in need of a shortstop after the loss of Xander Bogaerts and the injury to Trevor Story.
MLB Network insider Jon Morosi provided an update on Andrus market and how he could potentially fit in with the Red Sox.

After the team signed Adam Duvall, utilityman Enrique Hernandez could potentially be moved to shortstop.
However, that isn’t the only option for the Sox.
Hernandez will be playing center field for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
It’s very possible that Boston could keep him in center.
That still leaves the shortstop position open, but that is where Andrus comes in.
If Hernandez is away during spring training, as Morosi noted, that leaves shortstop open for the taking.
If Andrus is added by the Red Sox, he’ll get plenty of looks at shortstop while Hernandez is competing in the WBC.
That could still leave center field in the super utilityman’s grasp.
In recent years, Andrus has hit for more power, so he could also be a solid presence in the lineup for Boston.
The Red Sox were smart to add Duvall, but may need to add Andrus or another infielder as a supplemental piece.
