The trade deadline is now less than a week away.
Soon, contending ballclubs will be adding the final pieces to their rosters in hopes of preparing for a stretch run late in the season.
On the other side of the coin, teams out of contention will look to maximize their returns for certain players.
As the deadline nears, it’s usually pitching that draws the most attention.
However, the middle infield market is starting to heat up as well.
According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, teams such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, and Milwaukee Brewers are searching for middle infield help.

Some of the infielders that are currently on the block include Tim Anderson, Paul DeJong, and Vidal Brujan.
In the case of Anderson and DeJong, both the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals are well out of postseason contention and are set to retool for next season.
DeJong in particular is an interesting case.
The veteran shortstop appears to have rediscovered his stroke at the plate after a few down seasons.
Anderson is a former batting champion and a free-agent-to-be, but he could potentially generate a massive haul in return for the White Sox.
The Mariners are a team that is in desperate need of some offense and could look to add a bat to shore up their infield.
Things will soon start to heat up as the deadline draws nearer.
