The Chicago White Sox continue to search for a new manager in the wake of Tony La Russa‘s departure.
La Russa was forced to step away from the game as a result of some health issues.
For the time being, bench coach Miguel Cairo is the team’s acting manager.
But Chicago continues to search for the right man to lead their club.
Former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, Atlanta Braves third base coach Ron Washington, and Houston Astros bench coach Joe Espada are all names that have been mentioned.
While none of them appear to be likely candidates, according to Jon Heyman, another option has emerged, as the White Sox received permission from the New York Yankees to interview bench coach Carlos Mendoza.
White Sox got permission to interview Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza for manager opening. White Sox search has been mostly a mystery. Ozzie Guillen, Ron Washington and Joe Espada have been mentioned but none of those 3 are seen now as especially likely.

White Sox Managerial Search Continues
Heyman also went on to mention that the White Sox have been very secretive about their managerial search.
La Russa guided them to a 93-69 finish and an AL Central title in 2021.
This season, the White Sox faded and finished 11 games back of first at 81-81.
Perhaps the White Sox could stick with Cairo as their manager and search for a new bench coach instead.
With no candidates appearing especially likely, Cairo could be the guy they decide to go with.
But at the very least, they received permission from the Yankees to interview Mendoza.
A fresh voice in the clubhouse could be just what they need, and Mendoza could be the right guy for them.
Perhaps Mendoza is considered one of the leading candidates.
