After a surprise run to the World Series in 2022, the Philadelphia Phillies are prepared to go all in for 2023.
After sneaking into the postseason, they eliminated the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres before being eliminated themselves by the Houston Astros.
But after letting Jean Segura walk, there may be an opening at second base or shortstop.
The Phillies are team that has been linked to Trea Turner and other high-profile shortstops on the free agent market.
But ESPN’s Buster Olney provided an exciting update on the Phillies and their shortstop pursuit, quoting a longtime MLB agent who predicted that Turner, or one of the big-name shortstops will ultimately end up in the City of Brotherly Love.
Longtime agent: "The Phillies will wind up with one of the (elite) shortstops. That's going to happen." The elite shortstops available in FA: Xander Bogaerts, Carlos Correa, Dansby Swanson, Trea Turner.

Phils Linked To Top Shortstops
The addition of Turner, or either of the shortstops out on the market, would put the Phillies in prime position to make yet another run to the World Series.
The team won 87 games during the regular season.
But adding one of the elite shortstops might just make them the favorites to not only win their first National League East title since 2011, but also take another shot at a World Series title.
Philadelphia last won in 2008 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
This year, they took the Astros to six games in the World Series before falling short.
Jon Morosi stated on MLB Network that the Phillies appear to be the favorites to sign Turner.
Their lineup already features Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, J.T. Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins.
Signing one of the top shortstops will make their lineup that much more dangerous.
