On Tuesday, it was reported that New York Yankees relief pitcher Ron Marinaccio will be placed on the 15-day injured list with a stress reaction on his shin.
The ailment is expected to sideline him until at least the American League Championship Series, if he progresses well.
It’s yet another blow for a unit that has been receiving them in bunches.
MLB insider Chelsea Janes commented on the Yanks’ bullpen situation, which is murky to put it lightly.
“Yanks bullpen is (literally) limping into the postseason. Holmes hurt and not expected to pitch again in regular season. Britton hurt. Chapman all over the place. Who will close? who will get the ball to whoever closes?,” Janes tweeted.

Injuries Have Been Particularly Rough With Yankees Relievers This Year
We have to add Stephen Ridings, who will not be returning this season, and Wandy Peralta, who could get back into the active roster relatively soon, to that list.
The year has been rough for Yankees’ relievers.
Jonathan Loaisiga started off the year on the wrong foot, with control and command issues and then a lengthy shoulder issue.
Chapman just isn’t the same: his velocity is not what it used to be, but worse yet, his control and command appear to have completely abandoned him.
Chad Green and Michael King were both lost for the year with arm injuries, and Miguel Castro just returned and didn’t look all that effective on Monday.
Scott Effross, Clarke Schmidt, Jacob Barnes, Lucas Luetge, and Lou Trivino remain on their feet.
As the Yankees look to add title number 28 to their resume, their bullpen could prove to be their Achilles’ heel.
