Before long, the St. Louis Cardinals may find themselves buried in the National League Central.
They are already 10 games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are leading the division.
St. Louis also has the worst record in the National League at 10-22 following their sixth straight loss.
The clock is ticking.
However, MLB Network analyst and St. Louis native Greg Amsinger doesn’t think the Cards should be counted out just yet.
Amsinger talked about how there are still things to be encouraged by when concerning the Cardinals, and also made a bold prediction, saying that he believes the team will use their tremendous position player depth to pick up a couple of starting pitchers.
Is there still some reason for optimism with the #stlcards? What about hope?

Amsinger started off by saying that he does not believe the Cardinals are a “doormat team.”
He mentioned the Atlanta Braves in 2021 and how they turned their season around late to ultimately win a World Series title, even picking up some key outfielders after Ronald Acuna Jr. tore his ACL.
Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario, and Adam Duvall were among the players the Braves picked up.
Amsinger then made his prediction, saying that he believes St. Louis will pick up some key starting pitchers to strengthen their staff and turn their season around.
The Cardinals have experienced some wild turnarounds before.
In 2011, they found themselves 10.5-games back in the Wild Card race before winning 23 of 32 games to reach the postseason.
They went on to win the World Series.
10 years later, they went on a 17-game winning streak to overcome another deficit in the Wild Card race and clinch a spot in October.
