This offseason, the free agent market has been quite active.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the trade market.
But there is one player who is generating a lot of interest from other teams.
Outfielder Bryan Reynolds had requested a trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this offseason.
MLB insider and former New York Mets GM Steve Phillips discussed the situation and revealed that the Pirates are not actively shopping Reynolds, but that teams such as the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers would be in the best position to acquire the star outfielder.
Phillips then discussed what the Yankees might give the Pirates in return if they’re going to pull off a trade.

Phillips mentioned that Pirates GM Ben Cherington is going to want “a Juan Soto type deal” if he’s going to trade Reynolds.
Some names that were mentioned as potential return pieces were infielder Oswald Peraza, pitcher Deivi Garcia, and outfielder Oswaldo Cabrera.
These are three of the top prospects in the Yankees organization and would be the ideal pieces for the Pirates to get in return if they do indeed deal Reynolds.
It is possible however that a deal will not get done this offseason and will ultimately happen at the trade deadline, similarly to Soto in 2022.
The Pirates will certainly want a hefty return for Reynolds and will stop at nothing in order to get it.
The Yankees are a team that can give them just that by dealing away certain young stars.
