The Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees will complete a four-game series tonight in the Bronx, at Yankee Stadium.
The other three games went to the Yanks, who are going for the sweep on Thursday.
Those three losses have really affected the Twins in the standings.
The Cleveland Guardians have lost seven of their last ten games, yet the Twins are still two games behind them because they haven’t been able to solve the Yankees.
It’s not a new issue, though: whenever the Twins play the Yankees in the last few years, they really struggle, and end up losing most of those games (particularly in the postseason).
An MLB insider, however, is defending the Twins saying that their current, ongoing injury issues have become hard to overcome.
“Twins have a NY thing yes, but they also have 17 guys out with injury (more than Yanks even). That’s Buxton plus 16 others,” Jon Heyman of MLB Network and the New York Post tweeted.

Two Teams That Have Been Really Affected By Injury
The Yankees are currently without Luis Severino, Michael King, Chad Green, Matt Carpenter, Giancarlo Stanton, Harrison Bader, Anthony Rizzo, and other prominent players.
The Twins, however, could almost field an all-injured team if they wanted.
Tyler Mahle, Kenta Maeda, Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak, and Bailey Ober are currently on the shelf: that’s an entire rotation, and a good one while we are at it.
Among position players, Buxton is the most obvious name, but Alex Kirilloff, Trevor Larnach, Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco, Ryan Jeffers, and Miguel Sano are also hurt.
Injuries have really hit the Twins hard, yet they still have playoff hopes with their 68-67 record because the Guardians haven’t been much better.
