The Pittsburgh Pirates had a rough day on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, being no-hit.

Yet somehow, they still managed to win the game.

Fast forward to Monday night at Wrigley Field and they finally scratched out a couple hits.

However this time, they were shut out and lost by a final of 9-0.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale took to Twitter to note the interesting trend the Pirates were on.

Nightengale points out that the Pirates have only scratched out three hits over the last two games, yet somehow, they managed to win one of them, that being the one they were no-hit in.

Buc-ing Trends

This is absolutely crazy.

To have actually won a game after having managed to pick up only three hits in a two-game period is pretty unheard of.

The fact that they managed to win the game that were held hitless in is even more unheard of.

It’s weird how these things work sometimes, but strange things can happen.

They gave up an eight-spot in the bottom of the first last night in Chicago but still managed to actually pick up a few hits.

It’s rare that a team wins a game, much less scores a run while being no-hit, while the next night they get shutout, but pick up a few more hits.

Again, it’s all so unheard of.

But the Pirates are trending in a very weird direction right now.

This certainly is no contending ballclub, so it’s not a good direction to be headed in.

But it’s an interesting one to say the least.

Maybe tonight they’ll have a normal game again.

Who knows what’s next after a weird two games?
