The Houston Astros and New York Yankees have developed a nice little rivalry over Houston’s 2017 sign-stealing scandal.
Of course, that year, the Astros beat the Yankees in the ALCS on their way to their first ever World Series title, drawing the ire of the Yankees and their fans, as well as fans around the baseball world.
However, last night, as the two teams met for their series opener, Joel Sherman of the New York Post noticed something while Jose Altuve was at the plate and receiving boos from the Yankees faithful.
Sherman tweeted that in that moment, Carlos Beltran, who was a part of that Astros team, was in the broadcast booth while his former teammate from that season Marwin Gonzalez was sitting in the Yankees dugout.
As Altuve is booed once again at YANKEE Stadium, I look to my right into the YANKEES Entertainment and Sports Network booth and notice Carlos Beltran and look into the YANKEE dugout and notice Marwin Gonzalez.

A Bit Awkward
This is an awkward little moment.
Beltran was a Yankee before heading over to Houston for his final season.
Gonzalez was with the Astros for several years and went to the Minnesota Twins after the 2018 season.
Brief stops in Boston and back with Houston followed shortly thereafter.
Now, Gonzalez is a member of the Yankees, the team that seemed to have the most beef with the Astros over the sign-stealing incident.
So, it’s ironic to see Gonzalez now a member of the Yankees.
The two teams have a heated rivalry now over what happened in 2017 and potentially even beyond, but it’s interesting to see Gonzalez on the opposite side of it now, as well as Beltran, who was in the Yankees broadcast booth.
Times have changed and players may have gone elsewhere, but the hatred is still in full force over the sign-stealing scandal, something that will never be forgotten.
