The Los Angeles Angels finally won: they beat the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, snapping a 14-game losing streak that had no precedent in the franchise.
The team tried everything to stop the bleeding and halt the awful losing streak… even some desperate measures.
The team had lost their manager (Joe Maddon was fired after the 12th straight loss) and tensions were boiling in the dugout, but one of the Angels coaches thought it could be funny or helpful to have batters walk up to Nickelback songs on Wednesday.
They didn’t win that day.
However, they won the day after, on Thursday.
Amid Thursday night’s celebrations because of the Angels’ victory, someone asked ESPN reporter Jeff Passan, a known Elmo impersonator, to sing a Nickelback song with that particular voice of his.
He didn’t disappoint.
Yes, it’s official: things got weird!

Can The Angels Turn Their Season Around And Make The Playoffs?
It took a day, but now, we can say that MLB hitters are walking up to Nickelback songs, ending streaks, and we have one of the best reporters in the game singing Nickelback songs in Elmo’s voice.
It doesn’t get any weirder than that, but we love it.
The Angels are now hopeful they can start winning some games: they were 27-17 when their losing streak started, and are now 28-31.
Before Friday’s games, the Angels have the eighth-best record in the American League, and six teams will make the playoffs.
Are they good enough to turn their season around and become the first team ever to lose 14 straight games and make it into October?
They seem to have the talent, but they dug themselves into a huge hole.
