The 2023 MLB season might be a little bit different than recent seasons in that there will be some new rules in place.
These rules have been put in place as a means to try and speed up the game and improve pace of play.
A pitch timer has been added, and bigger bases will be used to prevent injuries.
In addition, limits on the defensive shift have been imposed, meaning that there must be two infielders on either side of second base at all times.
However, some players have openly discussed their distaste for the new rules and are hoping for a better solution.
MLB has been willing to make some minor tweaks, but nothing major.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale of USA Today provided an update on where things stand.
MLB sent memos to all clubs making clarifications on their rule changes for 2023, primarily making sure that clubs don't circumvent the rules.

According to Nightengale, MLB has sent a memo to all 30 clubs to clarify what the rules are and what the game will look like as a result.
It appears that MLB has done everything in their power to ensure that teams do not circumvent the rules.
There are some penalties involved for pitch clock violations.
A pitcher has 15 seconds to deliver a pitch with nobody on base and 20 with runners on.
If they do not deliver their next pitch in the allotted time, a ball will be called against them.
The same holds true for hitters who are not ready after a certain amount of time.
If hitters violate the rule, then an automatic strike will be called against them.
