Video game lovers wait for the designation of the cover player for MLB The Show every year.
Being named the cover athlete for the game is an unofficial award for baseball players.
When they were kids, they played video games such as Ken Griffey Jr. Slugfest or MVP Baseball, to name a couple, and they used to admire the player on the cover.
To see themselves on it, that must be really cool.
Some of the cover athletes for MLB The Show through the years have been David Ortiz, David Wright, Ryan Howard, Dustin Pedroia, Joe Mauer, Adrian Gonzalez, Andrew McCutchen, Miguel Cabrera, Yasiel Puig, Josh Donaldson, Ken Griffey Jr., Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Javier Baez, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani was on the cover in the last edition.
Now, we are faced with an important question:
Who should be on the cover of MLB The Show 23?

Who would get the honor of being on the MLB The Show 23 cover?
Considering the league hasn’t repeated a player, we wouldn’t say Aaron Judge (who broke the American League home run record and just got a huge contract with the New York Yankees) even though he clearly would be the number one choice.
Other potential options are reigning NL Cy Young Sandy Alcantara or the NL MVP, Paul Goldschmidt.
Perhaps Ronald Acuna Jr. gets his cover as one of the league’s most exciting players, although Jose Altuve and particularly Yordan Alvarez would be logical choices.
Julio Rodriguez has to be a candidate, too.
There is no shortage of quality options, and we are excited to know who will get the nod.
