The cover athletes of baseball games get love, respect, and worldwide recognition.
Not that they didn’t have it before appearing on the cover – their talent and skill are the main reason why they are elected – but appearing on it is one of the coolest things that can happen to an MLB player.
MLB on FOX conducted a vote to see who should be on the MVP Edition cover of famous video game MLB The Show 23.
The results were clear: the people want all-timer Albert Pujols on that cover.

Pujols has already announced his retirement, so it’s unclear if he is eligible for the cover.
He made history last year after becoming just the fourth hitter in the history of MLB to reach 700 career home runs.
He entered the 2022 campaign needing 21 blasts to reach the milestone, which made it unlikely in the eyes of many considering his below-average performance in recent seasons.
Not only did he hit 24 homers to finish his career at 703, but he turned back the clock and had his most productive campaign in more than 10 years.
The future Hall of Famer hit .270/.345/.550 with 24 homers and a .895 OPS in limited action.
He had a 151 wRC+, when the league-average hitter had 100.
The quest for 700 home runs kept thousands of people all over the world in front of their TVs.
It’s only fair if he appears in the cover of one of the most influential video games of our time.
Will that desire turn out to be a reality?
Pujols had a phenomenal career with an even better ending.
