Now that the MLB regular season is over, The Sporting News conducted a survey among league executives.
The objective of the vote was to build each league’s All-Star roster.
It’s actually better to name All-Stars after the season is over instead of doing it at the midseason point like the league does it: to be an All-Star, a player’s performance should be strong and consistent all year long.

At first sight, there are hardly any surprises.
It’s a mild surprise to see Juan Soto in the National League, but he did have 27 home runs and an OPS over .800.
Shohei Ohtani Wasn’t Part Of The Sporting News’ All-Star Lineup
Paul Goldschmidt at first base and Bryce Harper at the designated hitter spot left no space for New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso, who also had a very good campaign.
One of the top Rookie of the Year candidates in the National League, Michael Harris II, made the team as a starting outfielder, and deservedly so.
The omission of Shohei Ohtani raised some eyebrows, considering his two-way prowess, among people in the replies.
However, he wasn’t as good as the DH choice, Yordan Alvarez, and while a case can be made that he was as good as Justin Verlander, the Houston Astros ace is a good selection as the starting pitcher in the American League.
Perhaps they should have created a special spot for him to recognize his invaluable contributions.
Otherwise, there are no major shocking developments or selections.
