The 2022-23 MLB offseason is shaping up to be an exciting one.
Several free agents have signed massive deals with new teams, with the most recent example being left-hander Carlos Rodon.
But when big signings take place, things get interesting for the division the team that made the signing is in.
The National League East is starting to look even more competitive than it was in 2022.
With the Philadelphia Phillies signing Trea Turner and the New York Mets bringing in Justin Verlander, the division got a little more interesting, so much so that MLB.com has ranked it as the best and toughest division in all of baseball.

How the NL East Stacks Up
The Atlanta Braves were the ones to take home the division title in the 2022, overcoming a 10.5-game deficit to unseat the Mets at the top.
The Braves won the World Series in 2021 and already boast a solid team heading into 2022, one that features a strong core with players such as Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna Jr. Ozzie Albies, Michael Harris, Austin Riley, Max Fried, and Spencer Strider.
But the Mets and Phillies have made some significant moves.
In addition to Verlander, the Mets have signed pitchers Kodai Senga and Jose Quintana, as well as catcher Omar Narvaez.
They also re-signed outfielder Brandon Nimmo.
The Phillies won their first National League pennant since 2009 and have only gotten better ahead of 2023.
In addition to Turner, the Phils inked pitchers Matt Strahm and Taijuan Walker.
So naturally, the NL East looks strong again and should be an interesting race in 2023.
