MLB Betting Results Show A Surprising AL MVP Favorite

The 2022 MLB season is underway, which means that the odds for the World Series and the odds for season awards are in.

The recent betting results from BetMGM were released this morning.

There are some predictions that seem logical as we move forward with the 2022 MLB season.

There are also some that are surprising and jump out to fans reading the results.

The most surprising bet of them all would have to be the percentage of tickets predicting a certain player to win the American League MVP Award.

According to the results, 19.6% of tickets pick Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert to take home the award.

Most bet-on players by ticket count:

AL MVP
Luis Robert (19.6% of tickets)

AL Cy Young
Shohei Ohtani (11.2%)

AL Rookie of the Year
Spencer Torkelson (20.8%)

NL MVP
Bryce Harper (21.3%)

NL Cy Young
Walker Buehler (13.9%)

NL Rookie of the Year
Seiya Suzuki (34.0%)

An Interesting Pick

This is a surprising pick, but Robert certainly has the potential to be an MVP.

Robert hasn’t exactly played a full season yet however, having made his debut in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and spent a ton of time on the injured list in 2021.

Though out for much of the season, Robert still put up some impressive numbers, hitting .338 with 13 homers and 43 RBIs.

The key for Robert is staying healthy.

If he stays healthy, he can put together an MVP-caliber season and lead the White Sox to another division title.

But it is surprising that the majority of the betting tickets have him winning the MVP and not somebody like Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani.

We’ll see if this bet comes to fruition.

It’s certainly going to be a hot race for the AL MVP this season and Robert could certainly win it if he remains healthy and productive.

It’s impossible to determine this early in the season, but as the schedule progresses, we should have some more clarity on who will win these awards.
