The defending World Series champion Houston Astros are coming into the 2023 season with something to prove.
With stars such as Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Jose Abreu, Kyle Tucker, Jeremy Pena, and Alex Bregman on their side, things are looking promising for the ‘Stros as they prepare to defend their title.
On MLB Network, analysts discussed the impact Alvarez has on the Astros and what he means to the team.
They discussed what he has been able to do over the past several seasons and also showed where he ranks among some of the greatest players to ever play the game in certain categories.
"It's been quite a while since we've seen someone do what Yordan Alvarez has done."

The analysts focused on Alvarez’s slugging percentage over the past few years and where he ranks among some of the greats in that category through his age-25 season.
Alvarez will turn 26 in June.
But he has a .590 slugging percentage since being called up to the big leagues in 2019.
Also on that list were players such as Chuck Klein, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, and Johnny Mize.
Alvarez was at the bottom of the list, but he is already in some elite company with some very good players throughout the game’s history, and his production is a big reason as to why the Astros remain a baseball powerhouse.
The 25-year-old hit a clutch home run in Game 6 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies that gave Houston the lead.
As his career progresses, he’ll look to continue his trend of hitting for power and coming through in the clutch.
