The World Baseball Classic has come and gone.
In a thrilling matchup between Japan and the United States, it was Japan who emerged victorious, holding off Team USA and winning by a final of 3-2 to capture the WBC title and unseat the Americans as defending champions.
And as fate would have it, the final out of the game featured a showdown between two Los Angeles Angels stars in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.
The count ran full, but Ohtani won the battle.
With the Classic over, they’ll now head back to Angels camp.
On Twitter, an MLB analyst posted a hilarious tweet roasting the Angels, depicting Trout and Ohtani as the famous Shrek with a disappointed look on his face as the two stars return to Angels camp.

Even with Trout and Ohtani on their side, the Angels have struggled to find much success in recent years.
Ohtani joined the team in 2018.
However, they have yet to reach the playoffs with both stars on their side.
And Trout and Ohtani are arguably the two best players in all of baseball.
The Angels added some key pieces this offseason such as Gio Urshela, Hunter Renfroe, Brandon Drury, and Tyler Anderson.
However, given their recent track record, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that 2023 won’t be much different for the Halos, if at all.
The team started out the 2022 season hot, but quickly collapsed in June and ultimately finished with just 73 wins, falling short of the postseason once again.
