Every once in a while in MLB, we have a few moments of contention between teams.
On Wednesday night, the Washington Nationals asked to have Cincinnati Reds rookie Elly De La Cruz’s bat inspected.
He had an interesting knob on his bat and Nationals manager Dave Martinez asked for it to be looked at.
It turned out to be nothing and De La Cruz continued to use that bat for the rest of the game.
But he took exception to the Nationals thinking he was doing something illegal.
Later in the game, De La Cruz smashed a 455-foot home run.
He pointed at the knob of his bat after crushing that ball.
Martinez did not take kindly to that gesture saying, “I didn’t like his antics after he hit the home run.”
Yet, Codify mentioned how Martinez talking about “antics” was hypocritical after his recent ejection.

Both players and managers get caught up in the heat of a game.
That is what happened with Martinez after his animated ejection.
But he should have no problem with what De La Cruz did after asking to check his bat.
The Reds have become one of the most exciting teams in baseball thanks to De La Cruz.
He is an electric player that can do it all on the field.
Baseball is better when De La Cruz is on the field as he will be bringing more eyes to the game.
His “antics” are what make the game fun, and hopefully, he will not be deterred by this recent encounter.
