With the 2022 NFL preseason only a month away, it’s crunch time for players to get ready.
No other player is feeling the pressure like Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
The former Chicago Bears starting quarterback is getting his second chance as the top guy in Pittsburgh.
However, one wrong move can quickly end that second chance.
That’s why 2022 is proving to be the year he’s playing for his NFL future.

While he could be that future guy for the team, it doesn’t help their current starting quarterback to hear this.
With Trubisky still being young, the talks of any other quarterback being the future of your team may cause doubts.
But it could also cause him to play the best season of his career to prove he can be the future of Pittsburgh.
However, that will take a lot as his career leaves doubts in people’s mind.
Was Coaching The Issue For Trubisky During His Career In Chicago?
Fans who are sold on their current starting QB point to his winning record as a starter.
When critics point out that his record was only good because of the Bears’ defense, some people then claim that coaching hurt Trubisky in Chicago.
I'm in the camp that believes Trubisky was hurt by bad coaching. Think there still might be hope for him. Of course, I've been saying that about Marcus Mariota, too, so….

However, bad play-calling isn’t the only thing that plagued the quarterback in Chicago.
His poor decision-making skills put himself, and the team, in dangerous spots.
While he had legs to run the ball, him doing so didn’t help him stay healthy.
But he also ran with the ball if his first-look receiver wasn’t open, as opposed to looking for other options.
That part is mostly on Trubisky, as he made those mistakes on his own.
However, coaching can be blamed for not helping him fix that problem.
But now that he’s in Pittsburgh around some of the best coaches, they can help him improve on that.
Can Trubisky Succeed In Pittsburgh?
The success of the current Steelers starting quarterback is all on Trubisky, and him learning from his past mistakes.
If he works on the problems he’s had through the years, then he can find success in Pittsburgh.
However, it’s also on the surrounding team to help keep him in games.
The Steelers defense lost their best lineman, Stephon Tuitt, to retirement.
But they still have other great defensive players in T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
If they stay healthy, and Trubisky holds up his end, Pittsburgh can get some wins with their new quarterback.
With the regular season almost here, time is short for Trubisky to get ready and prove that he can win in Pittsburgh.
