The New York Jets entered Thursday night’s game riding high after a shocking upset over the Cincinnati Bengals.
That was mostly thanks to a breakout performance from quarterback Mike White, who threw for over 400 yards in the win.
Unfortunately, the White breakout stopped Thursday night.
He appeared to suffer some sort of arm injury and could not continue.
White explained the ailment following the loss.

It’s not like he was left on the field writhing in pain.
Instead, he lost feeling in a few fingers and could not properly grip the football.
White makes a point to say he couldn’t be at a level to help his team, which is why he could not get back into the game.
The Alternative At QB
The quarterback situation for the Jets is a confusing one.
Zach Wilson is out injured, so the team traded for Joe Flacco.
But White got the start and it appears to be his job for now when healthy.
Yet when White went down, it was veteran journeyman Josh Johnson who played in relief.
Josh Johnson was visibly upset on sideline after a tough battle in the Jets loss tonight.

Johnson also threw for three touchdowns in the game.
So is Johnson now the rightful backup to White over Flacco?
And what about when Wilson returns?
The team has four options and it appears the presumed top two may actually be the bottom two in reality.
This is a mess and ultimately something Robert Saleh needs to clean up before the end of the year.
One important note to make is that even if Wilson gets sat on the bench, that is not the worst thing in the world.
The Jets are not making the playoffs this year and Wilson can spend time learning, as plenty of rookies have done in the past.
White can get a chance to shine and who knows, maybe he ends up keeping the job heading into 2022.
As long as the Jets are winning, fans won’t care who lines up under center.
