Los Angeles Angels slugger and MVP candidate Mike Trout was scratched from the starting lineup before Monday’s game against the Miami Marlins due to a stomach illness.
The Angels won Monday’s game without him by a final of 6-2 led by a strong six-inning, one-run start by the newly signed Michael Lorenzen.
Brandon Marsh and Jo Adell also provided an offensive spark, with each of them hitting home runs.
This morning, MLB insider Rhett Bollinger tweeted an update on Trout’s status for tonight’s game.
Bollinger tweeted that Trout had said he was feeling better today but wasn’t sure if he would be in the starting lineup for tonight’s game.

Trout Already Missing Games
Trout is already missing games this season for the Angels.
Trout of course has occasionally struggled with his health, but the Angels can’t afford to not have him in the lineup at any point this season.
It’s a bad sign when one of your best players is already missing games this early in the season.
This is by no fault of his own, but the Angels are going to need Trout healthy if they want to take a shot at contending this season and potentially reaching the postseason.
A lineup that consists of Trout and Shohei Ohtani is a dangerous one but take one of those guys out and it isn’t nearly as strong.
Trout missed most of last season due to injuries and was limited to just 36 games.
He hit just eight home runs and drove in only 18 while hitting for a still impressive .333 average at the plate.
When Trout is healthy, the Angels could potentially be a dangerous team, but if they want to end their postseason drought, they need him at full strength.
