Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is one of the best hitters the sport has ever seen.
When he plays against the Texas Rangers, however, he reaches another level.
“Mike Trout hits his 42nd career homer against the Rangers in the 7th inning. That total is one shy of Reggie Jackson’s all-time record since team moved to Texas in 1972. Jackson had 54 total HR vs. Senators-Rangers,” John Blake tweeted.

After the Seattle Mariners, the Rangers are the team that has suffered the most home runs by Trout, with the aforementioned 42.
He has hit 47 off the Mariners.
Against the Rangers, Trout has 206 hits, 35 doubles, 141 runs, 11 triples, 42 homers, 128 RBI, and 27 steals, with a .334/.453/.631 line and a 1.083 OPS.
That’s basically a bit better than an average season by Trout, which is extremely good as it is.
Trout Has Feasted On The Rangers’ Subpar Pitching For Years
For a big portion of Trout’s tenure with the Angels, the Rangers’ pitching staff was subpar.
They didn’t have good pitching for years, and they still don’t have a solid staff to be fair.
It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that the All-Star slugger has such excellent numbers against them.
There is no shame in failing to stop Trout, though: he is, and has been the best and most consistent hitter in the majors since he broke through and won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2012 with an incredible, record-breaking performance.
He is still 30, so the Rangers will probably have to suffer many more years of “Trout Torture”.
That is, unless they improve and invest in their pitching staff to prevent him and his teammates from inflicting so much damage with the bat.
It’s easier said than done.
