The San Francisco 49ers may have found their quarterback for the future.
Brock Purdy did an outstanding job of leading the offense when he was healthy, and while they might have still lost that game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, he gave them a better chance to compete than both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.
So, now that Niners’ GM John Lynch has made it clear that the team plans to roll with Mr. Irrelevant as their next QB1, Miami Dolphins’ HC Mike McDaniel recently made a somewhat interesting admission.
According to McDaniel, the Dolphins actually had Purdy on their radar during last year’s NFL Draft, as they were quite impressed by the film and his camp.

As we know by now, Purdy still slipped all the way to the final spot, where the Niners eventually took him.
Some people were impressed and shocked by the fact that San Francisco took another young QB in the NFL Draft, given the fact that they were reportedly ready to go with Lance as their future quarterback.
Fast forward to today, and Lance’s future seems up in the air, with some urging that they should trade him instead of stalling his development by making him a backup.
Still, truth be told, the Niners are being wise by holding on to their former first-round pick.
They can always turn back to him if Purdy’s dream-like start to his career was just a fluke, so don’t expect them to engage in trade talks around Lance any time soon.
