At this point last week, Mikal Bridges was joyfully playing for the only NBA team he’d ever worked for: the Phoenix Suns.
But then came Thursday and the entire basketball landscape changed with the thunderous announcement that Kevin Durant was leaving the Brooklyn Nets for the Suns.
The Durant move was possible because of a huge trade package that included sending Bridges to Brooklyn.
It would be understandable if Bridges’ feelings were a little hurt after the loyalty he has shown Phoenix.
But he seems to be taking it all quite well.
Speaking about his trade to the Nets, Bridges understood why it went down.
“I get it,” he said at a Nets press conference recently.
"I get it. You're getting Kevin Durant. I'd probably make that trade, too."

He went on: “You’re getting Kevin Durant. I’d probably make that trade, too.”
That’s a smart and healthy perspective from Bridges, who clearly comprehends that the NBA is a business and that Durant is one of the best basketball players alive.
He knows the Suns were making a move that improved their chances even more and he doesn’t take it personally.
Still, it must be added that the Suns may miss Bridges in the future.
He averaged 17.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists during his time in Phoenix.
He was incredibly productive, strong-willed, enthusiastic, and very reliable.
That could be what the Suns miss most, as Durant, Chris Paul, and Devin Booker have been prone to injuries lately.
Bridges has moved on and is ready to take his special talents to Brooklyn.
He isn’t holding onto any bad feelings and is simply focused on the future.
