On Saturday, Miguel Cabrera picked up hit No. 3,000 in front of the Detroit Tigers‘ faithful at Comerica Park.
On the first pitch he saw from Colorado Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela, Cabrera found a hole and hit one back up the middle to reach the historic milestone.
The Tigers rolled to a 13-0 victory on Miggy’s special day.
After the game, Cabrera offered a toast to his Tiger teammates and gave a speech regarding his achievement.
But Cabrera didn’t want to make it about him.
Instead, he talked more about the importance of winning the game, while professing his confidence in the team to take care of business and win their first AL Central title since 2014.

Pure Class
This is about as classy as you can get if you’re Cabrera.
He could’ve talked more about what it meant to him, but he got the point across.
He mentioned that it meant a lot to him, but chose to focus more on his teammates, thanking them for their support and preaching confidence in them.
This is what a leader does.
True leaders don’t like to make big moments about themselves, even if it’s their own big moments.
They want to include their teammates in the fun.
They appreciate what their teammates do for them and the team as a whole.
Cabrera wants to win and believes the team he has with him in 2022 is capable of doing just that.
He showed his teammates some love and told them how much they mean to him, even more so than the milestone itself.
We’ll see if the Tigers can take something from this speech and end up winning some more ballgames in 2022.
