Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera is so close to 3,000 career hits.
A two-hit game last night against the New York Yankees put him at 2,999.
Now, all he needs is one more hit to reach the historic milestone and become a member of the 3,000-hit club.
A milestone such as this is important for any player, but this morning, Cabrera spoke about what reaching 3,000 hits would mean to him.
Cabrera said that when he finally reaches the milestone, he’ll be thinking about his upbringing in Venezuela and how his uncle taught him to play the game.
He said he also wants the song “El Alma Llanera”, a sentimental Venezuelan song, to be played after he picks up his 3,000th career hit.
