Miguel Cabrera Channeled An MLB Legend For His Stolen Base

Somehow, some way, Miguel Cabrera managed to steal third base on Tuesday night against the Kansas City Royals.

The Detroit Tigers legend obviously is far from the fastest guy in the league, but he managed to do the unthinkable last night in Kansas City.

It was certainly a beautiful sight, and it’s one you can’t take for granted.

But after the game, Cabrera sounded off on his stolen base and from what he said, it seems like he was channeling the great Rickey Henderson when he made his dash.

Jason Beck, Detroit’s MLB.com beat writer, tweeted what Cabrera had to say after the game about his stolen base.

Miguel Cabrera: "Like Rickey Henderson said, 'When you go, you gotta go, and you go.' You don't think. When you go, you go. I always got it in my mind. Rickey said that, so you gotta do it."

“You Gotta Go!”

He’s right.

Sometimes, you’ve got to just do it.

And Cabrera did it last night.

He channeled the greatest base-stealer of all time when he made his run to swipe third and later score when the throw got away.

Cabrera isn’t a guy you look at and think about having burner wheels, but last night, he sure showed off the wheels.

Henderson would have been proud of him.

Cabrera is 100% correct that when it’s in your head, you go and try and make something happen.

And Cabrera did more than that.

He did what he was supposed to do and ultimately resulted in a run for the Tigers, who took advantage of a four-error game last night courtesy of the Royals.

Cabrera knew what he had to do and he made the Royals pay for taking his base-running abilities for granted.

No, Cabrera is not the new Henderson, but at least he channeled a legend last night when he stole third.
