Miguel Cabrera Can Still Continue A Personal Milestone Trend

Miguel Cabrera, perhaps the most influential member of the Detroit Tigers since the turn of the millennium, has had a wonderful career to this point.

The future Hall of Famer has won two MVP awards, a Triple Crown, a World Series title, and several batting crowns.

Silver Slugger awards and All-Star berths are also in his list of achievements.

The next goal?

Reaching 3,000 hits in MLB.

He is currently at 2,999, but couldn’t get the one he needed on Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees.

But don’t worry: he will get more chances, and the schedule is giving him the opportunity to get that elusive hit in front of his fans, at Comerica Park.

Do you know what would be cool, though?

If he did it with a home run.

In fact, look at this bit of information by Bally Sports Detroit.

“DID YOU KNOW?  Miggy’s 1st MLB hit: HR. Miggy’s 1000th MLB hit: HR. Miggy’s 2000th MLB hit: HR,” they tweeted.

DID YOU KNOW? 🤔

It’s Easy To Dream About Cabrera’s 3,000th Hit Being A Homer

It would be absolutely amazing if Cabrera’s 3,000th hit came on a towering home run, as the crowd goes crazy.

Only 32 hitters have 3,000 hits or more in MLB.

Even though fans and media tend to evaluate rate stats more than totals at this point in history, it’s still a very respected record.

He would be mentioned in the same sentence as Derek Jeter, Pete Rose, Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Paul Molitor, Cal Ripken Jr., Willie Mays, Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Ichiro Suzuki, Craig Biggio, Rod Carew, Roberto Clemente, and only a few more.

Another fun fact is that he is currently at 599 career doubles.

If his next hit was a two-bagger, he would be killing two birds with one stone.

Get ready, because it will be a huge weekend in Detroit.
