The New York Mets have had a busy offseason, signing Max Scherzer, Mark Canha, Eduardo Escobar, and Starling Marte in free agency.
They now look to be the favorites to win the National League East, at least on paper.
They may not be done adding either.
As we all know, owner Steve Cohen wants to win and is keen on going over the new luxury tax threshold now known as “The Cohen Tax.”
One Mets writer, Michael Baron of SNY has an idea on what they should do next, saying on Twitter that there are several reasons why New York should ultimately keep Michael Conforto.
Another reason to bring Michael Conforto back – he would go a long way towards protecting against health concerns with Brandon Nimmo or anyone else for that matter. He would add to the depth, add to the length, addto their versatility.#Mets

Could Conforto Help The Mets?
Baron brings up a couple of interesting points.
The Mets for the past several years have dealt with more than their fair share of injuries.
Outfielder Brandon Nimmo is one of many Mets who have struggled to stay healthy over the years.
Having Conforto back would help protect against that.
Plus, Conforto is a left-handed bat with some power, and that could help boost the Mets lineup.
They would then have three solid lefty bats in Conforto, Escobar, and Jeff McNeil, and would also have Francisco Lindor, who is a switch hitter.
They would have a ton of options from the left side of the plate.
New York finished 77-85 last year and missed the postseason for the fifth straight year.
Extra depth wouldn’t hurt them.
It might just improve their chances at making a push for ending their postseason drought.
As mentioned before, Cohen wants to win and does not care about going over the luxury tax threshold, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see him make a move to keep Conforto.
