While NBA star Donovan Mitchell seems thrilled to be with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it’s clear that he’ll always think of New York as home.
The 26-year-old was born in Elmsford, N.Y., and every time the New York Mets play, Mitchell makes it clear that he bleeds blue and orange.
On Wednesday, Mitchell was a happy camper.
The Mets earned a dramatic win over the Miami Marlins in walk-off fashion, and Eduardo Escobar was the hero.
Escobar had a huge day, as he went 3-for-5 with a home run in the seventh, game-tying hit in the eighth, and walk-off knock in the 10th.
Mitchell was loving every second of it.

It has been a special season for the Mets, and it seems like Mitchell can’t get enough.
A Year To Remember
Mets fans haven’t seen their team in the postseason since 2016, but that’s going to change this year.
The squad has already clinched a playoff bid and is currently battling with the Atlanta Braves for the NL East crown.
New York has been playing well in recent weeks and is 9-3 over its last 12 games.
As a result, the team has a one-game lead over the Braves in a division race that is likely going down to the wire.
Escobar has certainly been doing his part, as he’s been virtually unstoppable throughout the month of September.
The veteran has appeared in 25 games this month and posted a slash line of .330/.379/.638 (1.017 OPS) with eight home runs, three doubles, and one triple during the stretch.
The Mets and Braves have a huge series coming up, and Escobar will certainly look to stay hot.
New York will look to gain some separation in the division race during that series against Atlanta, which begins on Friday.
Making Mitchell Happy
It’s great to see that Mitchell has been able to enjoy the Mets’ 2022 season.
The club hasn’t won a World Series in his lifetime, but that could change this year if the dominoes fall New York’s way.
As for Mitchell himself, he’s gearing up for the 2022-23 NBA season, which will be his first with the Cavs.
The Cavs caught a lot of folks by surprise last season when they put together a winning campaign, but now that Mitchell is in the mix, expectations are much higher for Cleveland.
The Cavs have the potential to be one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference if they live up to their full potential.
Mitchell will surely do everything in his power to make that happen.
Last season, the three-time All-Star averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game with the Utah Jazz while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from beyond the arc.
He’s a special talent, and he’s set to play alongside some other rising stars like Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen.
With any luck, the upcoming season will be a memorable one for the Cavs, and Mitchell is likely hoping that his Mets experience some magic in the coming weeks as well.
