The New York Mets are preparing for a season in which they will have four of the top starters in all of baseball in their rotation.
Max Scherzer is the main holdover from 2022, but the team also added Kodai Senga, Justin Verlander, and Jose Quintana after the departure of Jacob deGrom.
Today however, is Scherzer’s day to pitch, which always generates excitement around the game and for those within the Mets organization.
On Twitter, the Mets did their best to get fans hyped up for Scherzer’s outing, posting a video of the veteran right-hander walking out to the bullpen to warm up for his start.

Scherzer is in his second year as a member of the Mets, having signed a three-year, $130 million contract after the 2021 season.
The three-time Cy Young enjoyed a solid first year in Queens, winning 11 games in 23 starts and posting an ERA of 2.29.
He dealt with some injuries, but managed to work around them and become a steady presence for the Mets in their starting rotation.
The eight-time All-Star has a total of 201 wins over the course of his career.
He has also struck out 3,193 batters and managed to fan 173 during the 2022 season.
But his competitiveness is part of what makes him such an imposing presence on the mound and fun for those around him to watch.
That will certainly be on full display in his second season as a member of the Mets, and he’ll look to help the team build off of a 101-win season.
