Jacob deGrom has been out since the start of the 2022 season due to a stress reaction in his right shoulder.
He was scratched from his final spring training start and the New York Mets were forced to begin their season without the best pitcher in all of baseball.
The Mets’ rotation, which was predicted to be one of the best in baseball, still has performed admirably in his absence.
However, there may be some good news coming soon for deGrom and the Mets.
Mets beat reporter Anthony DiComo reported today that the results of deGrom’s latest MRI were favorable and that his shoulder appears to be healing.
Per the Mets: Jacob deGrom underwent follow-up imaging that revealed continued healing in the scapula. He will continue to build distance and velocity in his throwing program, and we will provide an update on his progress when appropriate.
Of note: no timeline for mound work.

deGrom Trending Upwards
This is good news for the Mets.
It looks as if soon, deGrom can slowly start to ramp up the intensity of his throwing program.
There is still no set timetable for mound work, so it’s still going to be a while before he can get going in that area.
But a little progress is better than no progress at all and it looks as if he’s slowly but surely getting better.
The rotation has still performed quite well, with Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt, Carlos Carrasco, and Tylor Megill picking up the slack.
If and when deGrom returns, that rotation is going to look even scarier than it already does.
This is a team that is rich in pitching and has a ton of depth.
deGrom will only add to that when he returns.
In the meantime though, the Mets are still going to be without their ace.
The good news is that he is at least progressing and trending in the right direction.
That’s all the Mets can really ask for at this point.
