Mets Already Have The Top 1-2 Punch In Baseball

The New York Mets are ready to go in 2022.

Owner Steve Cohen had a very busy offseason, and there’s reason to believe that he is not done just yet.

After signing Max Scherzer, Starling Marte, Mark Canha, and Eduardo Escobar, the Mets look scary on paper, and figure to be the favorites in the NL East division entering the 2022 season.

After all, they’ve got a rotation that is rivaled by few in baseball, featuring the best one-two punch in the entire league at the top, with Scherzer and Jacob deGrom ready to dominate some more as the new season rolls around.

The Best 1-2 Punch In Baseball?

It’s going to be tough to have to face these two in back-to-back games for any team.

It’s not something anybody wants to have to do, but it is a fate that few teams will be able to escape when they go up against New York.

And to add fuel to the fire, the Mets acquired Chris Bassitt from the Oakland A’s, adding a solid No. 3 starter to their rotation, which may just be the best in all of baseball, if everybody stays healthy of course.

There were obviously injury concerns with Scherzer and deGrom late last season, so there are always some question marks there.

But if healthy, it’s hard to imagine this rotation not completely dominating everybody in 2022.

It has been since 2016 that the Mets were in the postseason, and with this rotation after a busy offseason, there is reason for the fanbase to be excited about their chances of reaching October this year.

They certainly have to be the favorites in the NL East division, and if all goes well, they could contend for a title too.
