For fans of the New York Mets, the wait is finally over tonight.
After a solid outing by Max Scherzer in the series opener against the Washington Nationals, Jacob deGrom will be making his first start since July 7 of last season.
Elbow troubles ended his 2021 season early and a stress reaction in his shoulder delayed him this year.
But now, the Mets ace is finally back and ready to dominate again.
Of course, he pitched some rehab games with the Mets Triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Mets.
On Twitter, they posted something that was rather hilarious, referring to deGrom as a “recent Syracuse standout” and claiming that he has “a bright future.”

“Go Get ‘Em Kid!”
The way he looked in the minors, I think we can all agree that deGrom has a bright future.
This is a funny tweet by the Triple-A team.
He’s been down there for so long that it feels like forever ago that he was in the majors.
But at long last, deGrom has returned to the big leagues and will make his 2022 big-league debut tonight.
He went 7-2 a year ago with a 1.08 ERA before he was ultimately shut down for the rest of the season.
You can bet he’ll be ready to go out and dominate, just as he did in Syracuse.
They know better than anyone how good this kid can be.
All jokes aside though, it’s been over a year since the Mets have seen deGrom on a big-league mound.
He could be the final piece for this Mets team that officially makes them a World Series contender.
As the Syracuse team said, he’s got a bright future.
