The redemption story of Matt Carpenter has been nothing short of amazing.
After the St. Louis Cardinals declined his option for 2022, he signed a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers, but that didn’t last long either.
Fast forward to late May, and the New York Yankees came calling, signing him to a major league contract.
Now, he’s back to where he once was, hitting home runs at a rapid pace and bringing back memories of his hot streak in 2018, when his very own salsa was the talk of St. Louis.
In fact, he’s already got 10 home runs this season, and he’s only been with the Yankees for just over a month, as noted by Bryan Hoch on Twitter.
Matt Carpenter hits his 10th HR of the year.
Yes, the same Matt Carpenter who went from his couch to the #Yankees clubhouse on May 26. Incredible.

Carpenter’s Redemption
It certainly looks like the old Carpenter is back.
When he was in his prime, he was one of the Cardinals best run producers.
He tapered off towards the end of his time in St. Louis, but lo and behold, here he is with the Yankees, proving to be a smart pickup.
And yes, this guy was on the couch in May before the Bronx Bombers took a chance on him.
Since they signed him, he has rewarded the Yankees big time.
Last night against the Boston Red Sox, Carpenter blasted his 10th home run of the season.
He’s hitting .344 with 22 RBI and also has an OPS of 1.036.
This is the Carpenter that everybody knew was still in there somewhere.
He may be 36, but he has found a way to revitalize his career and turn himself into an All-Star caliber player once again.
He was picked up off the scrap heap, but here he is hitting home runs again.
