Matt Carpenter is enjoying a renaissance of sorts with his new team, the New York Yankees.
The St. Louis Cardinals did not pick up his club option at the end of last season, thus ending his tenure with the organization he was drafted and developed by.
But now, as a member of the Yankees, he’s looking like his old self after several years of struggles at the plate.
In fact, according to Stats By STATS on Twitter, Carpenter has made a little bit of American League history with his hot start.
He’s posted a 1.125 slugging percentage, which is the highest mark for any player through his first 10 games with an AL squad.

Carp Makes History
Carpenter has been a steal for the Yankees.
Did he just need a change of scenery?
Is it the short right field porch, or is he back on that salsa craze that he was on in 2018 with St. Louis?
Regardless, Carpenter looks like the All-Star he once was again, the guy that was so crucial to the Cardinals’ success over the last decade.
It’s never too late for a guy to revitalize his career.
Carpenter, 36, has done just that and is playing at an All-Star level.
Six of his first seven hits with the Yankees were home runs, two of which he hit yesterday against the Chicago Cubs.
He’s also hitting .333 with an OPS of 1.592.
This is the Carpenter that we’re all used to seeing, and now he’s made some important AL history.
He’s back to being the guy you don’t want to face with the game on the line.
We’ll see if he can keep this up and continue to prove what kind of player he truly is.
