The Miami Heat have done the seemingly impossible, with Erik Spoelstra’s squad defying the odds in the NBA playoffs to reach the NBA Finals.
The Heat started with a loss in the Play-in Tournament against the Atlanta Hawks and rallied ever since with an incredible first-round upset over the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, followed by beating the New York Knicks and ultimately topping the second-seeded Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Needless to say, it has been a remarkable playoff run, which will be the sixth time that Spoelstra has led this Heat franchise to the Finals.
Few question the notion that Spoelstra is one of the best coaches in the NBA, as he’s proven it time and time again, but Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker believes he’s the best coach in sports, as he told Jim Rome.

Obviously, Schumaker is a bit biased as he shares the same city as Spoelstra, but there’s no doubt that there’s some merit to the Heat’s leader on the sideline being one of the best coaches in sports.
There are a lot of great head coaches in professional sports in this country that are still active, like Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr, Bill Belichick, and Andy Reid.
Claiming that Spoelstra is ahead of these legends is bold, to say the least, but he’s definitely someone that can start to be mentioned in the same breath, especially if he can lead this team to a title by getting the best of a very good Denver Nuggets squad in the Finals.
