After a miserable start to the 2022 season for the Seattle Mariners, they have turned things around and now find themselves just one win or a Baltimore Orioles loss away from reaching the postseason.
This is a team that has not made it since 2001.
They came close last year, but fell just a couple games short, finishing 90-72.
This year, their path was a little bit easier, given that a third Wild Card spot has been added to the playoff picture.
It’s not over yet, but it’s looking pretty good for Seattle.
Manager Scott Servais is confident, even going as far as to say, “We will end the drought tomorrow.”

Can Seattle Clinch?
It’s been a long time coming for the city of Seattle.
This team hasn’t tasted any success since 2001.
That year, they won 116 games and lost the ALCS in five to the New York Yankees.
They currently hold the second AL Wild Card spot and are a half-game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays, who sit in the third spot.
The moves to sign Robbie Ray and acquire Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, and Adam Frazier have paid off, and the Luis Castillo trade was just the icing on the cake.
The Mariners could be a very dangerous team this October.
If the postseason were to begin today, they’d travel to Toronto for the best-of-three Wild Card series.
They’ll open up a three-game weekend series with the 100-loss Oakland Athletics tonight.
All it takes is a win or an Orioles loss.
With the Orioles game being scheduled for earlier in the evening, the Mariners could already have clinched by the time their game starts.
You can bet Seattle is ready to rejoice.
