The Home Run Derby was a pretty exciting event last night as some of the best sluggers in all of baseball took center stage at Dodger Stadium and put on a show of power the likes of which we haven’t seen in some time.
Perhaps the most riveting part of the Derby was the performance that Julio Rodriguez put on.
He took down both Corey Seager and the two-time defending champion, Pete Alonso, to advance to the final round.
He was unable to defeat Juan Soto in the finals, but it certainly was a fun battle.
Seattle Mariners legend Edgar Martinez was in attendance and tweeted a photo of Rodriguez putting a good swing on one, praising him for his “sweet swing.”

Praise From A Legend
That’s some pretty high praise from a legend.
Anytime a guy like Martinez, who is a Hall-of-Famer, says that you have a sweet swing, you’ve got to consider yourself fortunate.
Rodriguez put on a show for everyone to see in a coming out party of sorts.
Of course, as a Mariners legend, Martinez is no stranger to seeing a guy like Rodriguez take his hacks and hit some deep fly balls.
He was enjoying the show just as much as the rest of us.
Rodriguez certainly does have a sweet swing and is so fun to watch at the plate.
Leave a pitch up and he’ll take you a mile.
Martinez was also a great hitter in his own right during his career.
He’s one of the best Mariners of all-time, and for him to give Rodriguez such high praise is really saying something.
He isn’t wrong though.
Rodriguez does have a nice swing.
