Seattle Mariners rookie Julio Rodriguez has arrived on the big-league stage, but his first stint in the majors hasn’t gone according to plan.
Rodriguez has struck out a ton, but if one looks at a video posted on Twitter by Codify, a baseball analytics Twitter account, it’s easy to see why he has struck out as much as he has.
It’s not really by any fault of his own, but rather due to the fact that many of the pitches that were called strikes on Rodriguez were outside of the strike zone.
The Mariners have had enough of this, and according to Corey Brock of The Athletic, they have been forced to contact MLB about their complaints with the strike zone.
According to @CoreyBrockMLB, the Mariners have filed a letter with MLB about how Julio is being treated. https://t.co/dufQY2IMb8

Is It Time For An Electronic Strike Zone?
A lot of the pitches that were called strike three on Rodriguez were either borderline or out of the strike zone.
It’s easy to see why the Mariners are tired of this.
Along with the rest of the baseball world, they want to see Rodriguez have an exciting career and show what he can do.
But if the umpires are making bad calls, it’s going to be hard for him to get going.
It ultimately goes to show the problem with umpires in the game of baseball today.
It seems as if ball and strike calls get less accurate as time goes by.
That is why people are vouching for the use of an electronic strike zone that is programmed to be completely accurate.
It seems to be gaining traction as time goes on and that’s the direction that many people in the game want to move towards.
We’ll see what comes out of Seattle’s complaints for the strike calls on Rodriguez.
